Microsoft has unveiled Copilot Pro, a subscription plan priced at $20 per month per user (Rs 2,000 in India), aimed at delivering an enhanced AI experience across its applications. With Copilot Pro, subscribers will have continuous access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo, even during peak usage periods. This premium plan also grants users access to AI-powered Copilot features within Office apps, extending availability beyond business users.
Under the Copilot Pro plan, users can enjoy priority access to the latest OpenAI models, specifically GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo, ensuring accelerated performance. Microsoft initially provided free access to the GPT-4 model in Copilot, but with the introduction of the paid plan, it states that free users will now have access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo restricted to “off-peak hours.”
Essentially, if you seek continuous access to the top-tier OpenAI models, opting for the paid Copilot Pro plan is advisable. Additionally, Copilot Pro extends AI-powered features to Office apps within Microsoft 365. Subscribers to Microsoft 365 can now leverage Copilot in applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
It’s worth noting that Copilot functionality in Excel is still in preview, particularly for tasks related to data analysis and graph generation. Generating a complete PowerPoint presentation directly from a Word document is not currently supported. Nevertheless, users can create presentations by employing natural language prompts with Copilot. Furthermore, Copilot is accessible in Outlook to summarize emails and in the OneNote app.
Moreover, Copilot Pro offers the ability to create a personalized Copilot GPT, akin to OpenAI GPTs. Although this feature is not currently available, it is expected to be introduced later. On the image generation front, the premium plan facilitates quicker creation of images using DALL-E 3 and introduces support for a new landscape image format.
In summary, a subscription to Copilot Pro provides priority access to GPT-4, GPT-4 Turbo, and DALL-E. Additionally, it unlocks Copilot functionality in various Office apps and will soon include the capability to create custom Copilot GPTs.
