Microsoft has announced a notable price increase for its Xbox consoles, games, and accessories, attributing the hike to rising development costs and broader market challenges. The decision follows ongoing global economic pressures and new U.S. tariffs on Chinese-made electronics, which have affected manufacturing and supply chains.

In addition to price hikes in the United States, prices will also increase in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia. For instance, the Xbox Series S in India has seen multiple price adjustments, now retailing at ₹39,990, up from ₹34,990 at launch.

Keep in mind that Nintendo Switch 2 prices also vary significantly due to tariffs and shifting market conditions, making it challenging for Nintendo to meet the high demand in Japan.

Microsoft emphasized that the decision to raise prices came after careful consideration of the global economic climate. While acknowledging that the changes may be tough on consumers, the company noted that Xbox Game Pass subscription rates will stay the same, continuing to offer access to a wide range of games.

So, there’s still a silver lining for gamers looking to enjoy their favorite titles without breaking the bank—thanks to Xbox Game Pass remaining unaffected. As the gaming industry adapts to economic pressures, players may have to reassess their spending and expectations.
