MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9500 SoC Featuring Arm C1-Series CPU

After months of leaks and rumors, MediaTek has officially revealed its 2025 flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500. The new processor boasts a high-performance CPU, upgraded GPU, and advanced NPU capabilities. Here’s a closer look at its key specifications.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Powered by Arm’s C1-Series CPU

The Dimensity 9500 features an octa-core configuration with a single C1-Ultra core running at 4.21 GHz, three C1-Premium cores at 3.5 GHz, and four C1-Pro cores at 2.7 GHz. It is manufactured using TSMC’s latest N3P process.

This new Arm C1 architecture positions the Dimensity 9500 on par with Qualcomm and Apple’s latest chips. According to Arm, the C1-Ultra core delivers a 10% improvement in single-threaded performance compared to the Cortex-X925.

Official Geekbench results show the Dimensity 9500 scoring 4,007 in single-core and 11,217 in multi-core tests, easily outperforming the Dimensity 9400 and even the recently released Apple A19 Pro, particularly in multi-core performance.

The chip also comes close to the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in single-core benchmarks. MediaTek claims the Dimensity 9500 is up to 55% more power-efficient than last year’s 9400.

Dimensity 9500 Features Arm Mali-G1 Ultra GPU

MediaTek has equipped the Dimensity 9500 with the Arm Mali-G1 Ultra GPU, delivering up to twice the ray-tracing performance compared to previous generations while consuming less power. The GPU offers a 33% increase in peak graphics performance and is 42% more power-efficient.

Additionally, the Mali-G1 Ultra supports up to 119% faster ray-tracing and smooth 120 FPS gameplay. It includes a Vulkan ray-tracing pipeline for more realistic visuals and a dynamic cache architecture. The GPU also fully supports Unreal Engine 5.5, including MegaLights and Nanite features, making it ideal for high-end mobile gaming and graphics-intensive applications.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Features New NPU 990

The Dimensity 9500 is now equipped with MediaTek’s latest NPU 990, paired with the 2nd-generation Gen-AI Engine, delivering twice the AI performance compared to the Dimensity 9400. Developers can utilize the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) to create innovative AI-driven features and experiences.

The NPU 990 supports high-quality on-device AI video generation and is touted as the industry’s first CIM-based NPU for always-on AI applications. It also enables 2x faster token generation and 4K AI image creation, all while reducing peak power consumption by 56%.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500: ISP and Connectivity Highlights

The Dimensity 9500 enables smartphones to capture 4K cinematic portrait videos at 60 FPS with 30 FPS full-speed object tracking, as well as 4K 120 FPS recordings in HEVC format. It also supports up to 200MP still images and features MiraVision SmartScreen technology for vibrant and accurate color reproduction.

On the connectivity front, the chipset supports Wi-Fi 7 AI and Bluetooth 6.0 AI, while the integrated MediaTek 5G modem delivers peak download speeds of up to 7.3 Gbps, ensuring fast and reliable network performance.
