As previously announced, MediaTek has officially unveiled its high-end chipset, the Dimensity 9300, which competes directly with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform, recently introduced. Here are the details.
Details of MediaTek Dimensity 9300
The Dimensity 9300 SoC, succeeding the Dimensity 9200, is manufactured on a 4nm process and features an octa-core configuration. It includes four Arm Cortex-X4 cores with clock speeds of up to 3.25GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores with clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz. This chipset is known for being the first to utilize “all big cores for extreme performance.” In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 boasts a maximum clock speed of 3.3GHz.
The inclusion of the Immortalis-G720 GPU results in up to a 46% increase in GPU performance and a 4% reduction in power consumption. Additionally, it offers hardware-based ray tracing, delivering “console-level global illumination effects at a smooth 60fps.“
The Dimensity 9300 chipset features support for the new APU 790 AI processor, offering enhanced generative AI performance and up to a 45% reduction in power consumption. It also incorporates support for NeuroPilot Fusion, enabling compatibility with large language models.
Joe Chen, President at MediaTek, emphasized, “The Dimensity 9300 is MediaTek’s most powerful flagship chip yet, bringing a huge boost in raw computing power to flagship smartphones with our groundbreaking All Big Core design. The distinctive design, along with our enhanced on-chip AI Processing Unit, will mark the dawn of a fresh era for generative AI applications. Developers will explore new frontiers with edge AI and hybrid AI computing capabilities.“
The Dimensity 9300 chipset offers impressive photography capabilities with a low-power AI-ISP, support for always-on HDR at up to 4K resolution, 4K AI Noise Reduction (AI-NR), and AI processing for RAW photos and videos. It also includes support for Android 14’s Ultra HDR format. The chipset supports display configurations of up to WQHD at 180Hz and 4K at up to 120Hz. The MiraVision Picture Quality (PQ) engine enhances picture quality.
In addition to these features, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset comes with Wi-Fi 7, a 5G R16 modem, and various other capabilities. The first smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 are expected to be released by the end of 2023, with the Vivo X100 series set to launch on November 13. Be sure to stay tuned for more details and updates on this exciting chipset.
