Introducing the AI-powered iPhones! After months of rumors and speculation, Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max at its “Glowtime” launch event. These successors to the iPhone 15 Pro series come with larger displays, the A18 Pro chipset, an upgraded ultra-wide camera, and an all-new Camera Control button. With Apple Intelligence support, the iPhone 16 Pro models are loaded with cutting-edge AI features. Here’s a rundown of everything the iPhone 16 Pro models have to offer!
iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max: Specifications & Features
The iPhone 16 Pro models come with larger displays and a new blasted finish, giving them a more premium look. The iPhone 16 Pro now has a 6.3-inch display, an increase from the 6.1 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max features a substantial 6.9-inch display, making it the largest iPhone ever. Both models sport Super Retina XDR OLED panels with 120Hz ProMotion technology and Always-On Display (AOD) functionality.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 16 Pro models are powered by Apple’s next-gen A18 Pro chipset with Apple Intelligence support. Built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm chip fabrication process, the chipset includes a 6-core CPU, a 6-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Users will have access to all the Apple Intelligence features, including an enhanced Siri, ChatGPT integration, Summarize tool, Writing Tools, and more.
As expected, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max come with impressive camera upgrades. The iPhone 16 Pro models continue to feature a triple rear camera system, now equipped with a new 48MP Fusion camera and a second-generation quad-pixel sensor, supporting 48MP ProRAW and HEIF photos. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro models now include a 48MP ultra-wide camera with a quad-pixel sensor and autofocus. The 12MP telephoto lens with an f/2.8 aperture remains, but there’s good news the 5x telephoto lens is no longer exclusive to the Pro Max. For the first time, the iPhone 16 Pro also gets the 5x telephoto lens, an upgrade from the 3x telephoto lens on the iPhone 15 Pro.
With the faster sensor on the 48MP Fusion Camera, the iPhone 16 Pro now supports 4K video recording at 120fps. The camera app also includes intelligent audio enhancements to reduce wind noise. Apple has revamped Photographic Styles, allowing colors and shadows to adapt in real-time, with new black-and-white options, a natural style, and personalized settings. Additionally, thanks to improved microphones, the iPhone 16 Pro models support Spatial Audio capture during video recording when using AirPods or Vision Pro.
The iPhone 16 Pro models also feature a new Camera Control button, providing enhanced camera functionality. With this button, you can quickly open the camera app, swipe to zoom in or out, adjust focus, and much more. The Camera Control Button is a valuable addition that promises to transform the way we take photos on an iPhone. It also integrates with Visual Intelligence, allowing you to point the iPhone’s camera at an object to pull up contextual details such as information about a café or adding an event reminder to your calendar.
The new iPhone 16 Pro models come with faster Wi-Fi 7 support, all-day battery life, a programmable Action Button, an upgraded microphone, and more. They also introduce a new Audio Mix feature that uses machine learning to separate background audio from speech. The entire iPhone 16 lineup runs the latest iOS 18, which includes a revamped Control Center, customizable home and lock screens, a redesigned Photos app, RCS support, and many other enhancements.
The iPhone 16 Pro is available in three storage options: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max offers 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.
