Introducing the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra: Unveiling Specifications, Pricing, and More

About a month ago, ASUS made an announcement on its official X account (previously Twitter), revealing the launch date of the Zenfone 11 Ultra. Today, on March 14, this smartphone has finally debuted in global markets as ASUS’s latest flagship featuring AI integration. While it embraces the trend of incorporating AI features, it also boasts impressive hardware to support these functionalities. The pricing details have also been unveiled, providing comprehensive information on the device.

ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra Specifications

The ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra closely resembles the design of the ROG Phone 8 Pro, albeit without the ROG branding and Matrix display. It maintains many of the same specifications as well, leading to numerous technical similarities.

To begin with, it sports a Samsung 6.78-inch LTPO flexible AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. However, unlike the 165Hz panel on the ROG Phone 8, the Zenfone 11 Ultra offers a 120Hz refresh rate, which can go up to 144Hz in gaming scenarios. Additionally, it boasts a peak brightness of 2,500 nits, mirroring the ROG Phone 8 Pro.

Under the hood, the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, similar to its predecessor. It also offers storage options of up to 512GB and 16GB of RAM, utilizing UFS 4.0 and LPDDR5X technology. Notably, this configuration differs slightly from the ROG Phone 8 Pro, which offers 24GB of RAM.

In terms of software, the Zenfone 11 Ultra runs on Android 14 out of the box, featuring the ZenUI 11 custom skin. ASUS promises two years of OS updates and four years of security patches, ensuring a reliable user experience.

Moving on to the camera setup, the Zenfone 11 Ultra boasts a primary 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with gimbal OIS for enhanced stability. This sensor is complemented by a 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor offering a wide 120-degree field of view. Additionally, there’s a 32MP telephoto sensor with 6-axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 3.0, supporting up to 3x optical zoom. For selfies, there’s a 32MP RGBW sensor on the front.

In terms of battery life, the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra is equipped with a substantial 5,500mAh battery capacity. It supports 65W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging, providing convenience and efficiency in charging, akin to its gaming-focused counterpart.

For connectivity, the flagship device features Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, and NFC capabilities. Notably, it retains a 3.5mm headphone jack with Hi-Res audio support, a notable inclusion in flagship smartphones of 2024. Moreover, it offers superior wireless audio support with aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Lossless.

In addition to its hardware prowess, the Zenfone 11 Ultra offers a range of AI-driven features. These include AI generative wallpapers, AI call translation, and AI noise cancellation. Notably, it introduces an AI Semantic Search feature, operating on-device to provide personalized search results without relying on cloud-based services, prioritizing user privacy. However, gaming-centric features like AI grabber are not included with the 11 Ultra.

Price and Availability of the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra

In terms of pricing, the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra kicks off at 999 euros (around $1,099) for the base variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Meanwhile, the higher-end model, featuring 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is priced at 1,099 euros (roughly $1,200).

Color options for the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra include Eternal Black, Misty Gray, Skyline Blue, and Desert Sienna. Presently, the flagship device is exclusively available in the US and European markets, with no information yet regarding its launch in India or other regions.

ASUS Zenfone devices have gained recognition for their compact yet powerful designs. With the Zenfone 11 Ultra, ASUS appears to be targeting consumers who prefer larger smartphones. Given the absence of AI features in the Indian variant of the ROG Phone 8 Pro, it remains to be seen if the Zenfone 11 Ultra will bring its AI functionalities to the Indian market, particularly the AI Semantic Search feature.

Additionally, based on the launch timeline of the Zenfone 10 last year in India, it’s conceivable that the more compact Zenfone 11 could debut around the same time this year. As leaks start to surface, we’ll provide updates to keep you informed.
