Intel’s Upcoming Arrow Lake-S CPU Spotted: 24 Threads & 3GHz

An upcoming Intel processor, based on the Arrow Lake-S architecture, has recently been spotted. This architecture is slated to follow Meteor Lake, which is featured in Intel Core Ultra processors. The processor spotted has not been assigned a name yet.

The discovery was made by X (formerly known as Twitter) user @InstLatX64 on the Intel-gfx-ci.01.org website. As it is likely an engineering sample, it is currently labeled as ‘Genuine Intel(R) 0000.

As indicated, the Intel Arrow Lake S processor has been observed with ‘24 CPUs,’ which likely refers to the total thread count. While there were previous indications of Intel potentially abandoning hyper-threading for the 15th Gen Arrow Lake, this has not been confirmed yet. The processor is noted to have a 3000 MHz clock speed, likely indicating the base clock.

Additionally, @InstLabX64 mentioned in the post that this particular Intel processor does not currently support AVX512 instructions. However, it is possible that this feature was disabled at this stage due to the early nature of the CPU.

Intel Arrow Lake: Release Date and Expected Enhancements

According to Intel’s roadmap, Arrow Lake is slated to follow Meteor Lake, with these next-generation processors anticipated to launch later in 2024. It’s speculated that Intel might move away from using generation numbers and transition to using ‘Series 1‘ instead, based on the company’s rebranding efforts.

Microsoft is reportedly planning to set a requirement of 40+TOPS for AI processing speed on ‘AI personal computers.‘ Arrow Lake is expected to exceed this requirement, with Meteor Lake on Intel Core Ultra currently achieving around 36 TOPS of AI computing speed.

A newer manufacturing process, anticipated to be the 20A process node according to Intel, is also on the horizon. Following that, Panther Lake is expected to advance to an 18A process node. This shift should bring significant efficiency and performance improvements with the Arrow Lake generation.

What are your thoughts on Intel Arrow Lake? Do you anticipate it will be a substantial upgrade over current-generation processors like the 14th Gen Raptor Lake? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
