After months of leaks and speculation, Google has officially launched the Pixel 9 series, marking the first time the company has released four new devices simultaneously. The lineup features a flat display, back, and sides, likely drawing inspiration from the latest iPhone or Galaxy S24 series. With official specs and pricing now available for all four models, let’s explore what Google has in store for us this time.
Google Pixel 9 Series Launched
Pixel 9
Beginning with the Pixel 9, you’ll find a compact 6.3-inch Full HD+ display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus2. It features a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP main sensor and a 48 MP ultrawide lens, along with a 10.5 MP front-facing camera. All three cameras support 4K video recording at 60 FPS. The phone is equipped with a 4700 mAh battery and boasts a glossy glass exterior.
Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL
The Pixel 9 Pro adopts a more compact design similar to the iPhone Pro models, featuring a 6.3-inch 1.5K LTPO display. In contrast, the Pixel 9 Pro XL offers a larger 6.8-inch screen and a bigger 5060 mAh battery, compared to the 4700 mAh battery in the standard Pro and Pixel 9.
Both models share the same core specifications, including a 50 MP main camera, a 48 MP ultrawide lens, a 48 MP 5x telephoto lens, and a 42 MP front camera. They also come with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. For a detailed comparison between the two, check out our full review here.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Finally, Google introduced the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the successor to last year’s foldable model. This new device features a taller cover display, a larger inner display with slimmer bezels, and an upgraded camera setup with a 48 MP main sensor, a 10.5 MP ultrawide lens, and a 10.8 MP telephoto lens. It also includes two 10 MP selfie cameras for the cover and inner displays. The design improvements include a more robust hinge that allows the device to fold completely flat, addressing a shortcoming of the previous model.
All Pixel 9 series phones are powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 processor, built on a 4nm architecture. This new chip enhances performance and introduces a new satellite connectivity model. Additionally, all four devices support a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR 10+, and 27-watt wireless charging.
