Google, known for its leaky reputation, had renders of the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold circulating well before their official reveal. The Pixel 9 Pro is confirmed as a smaller Pro variant, while Google opts to name its second foldable device the Pixel 9 Pro Fold instead of Pixel Fold 2. In an effort to thwart further leaks, Google has unveiled the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold in their entirety. Here’s the comprehensive breakdown you’ve been waiting for.
Google has officially unveiled the designs of the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold through teaser videos posted on YouTube and X.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold Unveiled
The previous leaks and renders about the stacked lenses were accurate. The rear of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold appears somewhat unusual due to its camera module, featuring two stacked dual lenses along with what seems to be a microphone and flashlight.
The phone features gentle curves, with the lines flowing towards the hinge to create a cohesive design.
The area outside the glass appears to be made of metal and is integrated into the hinge, showcasing an intriguing design approach. This raises questions about the repairability of the device and how challenging it might be to replace the glass.
When unfolded, the upper bezels have been noticeably reduced in size. While not as slim as those on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, they now exhibit a more symmetrical appearance. Additionally, the top of the device features four antenna lines and a speaker grille. The color variant seems to be Porcelain White.
Pixel 9 Pro Unveiled
The Pixel 9 Pro, leaked last year, aligns with rumors suggesting it would be slightly smaller, with Google reintroducing the XL variant.
The 9 Pro showcases a boxy design reminiscent of the iPhone 12 and 13 series. Its camera island includes three cameras and retains the temperature sensor from the 8 Pro.
The Pixel 9 series will feature the Tensor G4, with rumors suggesting enhancements in camera technology, battery life, and charging speeds. Both the new Google foldable and the Pixel 9 series are confirmed to be coming to India, though it will be intriguing to see their pricing based on Google’s past decisions.
Google is heavily promoting its next-generation Pixel devices with Gemini AI, so expect many exclusive AI features on the Pixel 9 series.
The Pixel 9 Fold is set to launch on August 13, and the product page is now live on the Google Store. What do you think of Google’s upcoming foldable? Share your opinions in the comments.
