Google Plans Surprise Pixel Launch Event in August!

The Google Pixel 9 series has been generating buzz online for a while now, with a significant leak of live photos showcasing its design. Now, the tech giant has officially announced the date for its annual Made By Google event this year. However, it’s not just the Pixel 9 series expected to debut during the event. There’s speculation that we might also witness the unveiling of the Pixel Fold 2 and Pixel Watch 3. Here’s what we know so far!

Google Announces Launch Date for Pixel 9 Series

Google unveiled the launch event details on its official store page through a short teaser video. The video confirmed that the event will take place on August 13, 2024, displayed in Roman numerals, accompanied by a silhouette of the Pixel 9 featuring its new rounded camera bar.

Clicking on the “Learn More” button redirects users to the event page. The keynote is scheduled to commence at 10 AM PT (10:30 AM IST) on August 13.

Shortly afterward, various tech media outlets shared invitations for the event, offering further insights into what to expect from this highly anticipated event.

The invite states,

“While Google hasn’t mentioned a live stream explicitly, based on its past events, one is expected. The event is occurring approximately two months earlier than usual, as it typically aligns with October or September, near the iPhone launch event.”

What Can We Anticipate from August’s Pixel Launch?

Based on the details from the invite, it’s highly likely that the Pixel 9 series will make its official debut at the event. The teaser from Google suggests that the back panel design aligns with the previously leaked renders and images of the Pixel 9.

Additionally, the event is expected to feature the public rollout of Android 15. Moreover, there are indications that Gemini will receive new enhancements, alongside the possible unveiling of the Pixel Fold 2 and Pixel Watch 3.

Based on leaks and reports, the Pixel 9 series is expected to consist of three devices — the standard Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro, and the Pixel 9 XL. Similarly, it’s likely that the XL naming convention will extend to the Pixel Watch lineup this year. Here’s what to expect in terms of differences between the Pixel Watch 3 and 3 XL.

Google’s accelerated schedule this year suggests it may be gearing up to provide stiff competition to Apple Intelligence. Whatever the case, we’re eagerly looking forward to the event!
