Google Pixel 8a Retail Box Leaked; Suggests Compact Form Factor and 27W Charging

The flagship Pixel series is noteworthy, but it’s essential not to overlook the impact of the Pixel 3a/XL and 4a, which revitalized the Pixel brand. The A series has played a crucial role for Google in the past three years, and this trend is expected to continue. Following the typical Google pattern, renders of the Pixel 8a leaked last year, and as the May launch approaches, the retail packaging for the smartphone has now surfaced.

Today’s leak of the Pixel 9 render follows the earlier leak, unveiling the Pixel 8a box. Insights from leaks last year hinted at a smaller form factor and revealed the Bay color variant of the 8a. However, the details were limited until today. The leaked retail packaging has emerged from a Vietnam-based Pixel Facebook group, suggesting that the A series will receive a much-anticipated upgrade in charging speed.

The details on the back of the leaked packaging explicitly mention the “accepted” charging speeds from an adapter, ranging from 7.5W to 27W. The packaging corresponds to a black-colored Pixel 8a with the printed model number G6GPR.

Beyond the notable improvement in charging speeds, the leak aligns with the earlier revelations of all Pixel 8a colors before 2024. For more in-depth information about the Pixel 8a and its potential offerings, you can refer to our Pixel 8a roundup article.

Until now, the “Aseries supported only 18W charging, which was considered relatively slow. While the newly leaked 27W charging speed may not surpass other mid-range phones with faster 60W-100W charging capabilities, it does represent a noteworthy improvement.

The Pixel 8a is anticipated to be available in three colors: Obsidian Black, Porcelain, and Bay. Positioned as a mid-range device, its pricing is expected to align with the Pixel 7a, possibly at $500 or Rs 42,999 in India. There’s a slight chance it might be $50 more expensive, but that remains uncertain. The phone is likely to feature the Tensor G3 and may come in two storage variants: 8/128 GB and 8/256 GB.
