This advanced AI-driven feature allows Indian consumers to virtually test billions of clothing options before buying.
During the 2025 Google I/O event, where multiple AI innovations were unveiled, one announcement captured major attention. Google revealed its Virtual Apparel Try-On feature, aimed at transforming the online shopping experience. After launching in the United States and receiving an overwhelmingly positive response, this AI-powered tool has now been officially rolled out in India, promising to revolutionize digital fashion shopping.
Google Launches Virtual Apparel Try-On for Indian Shoppers
According to a recent Google India blog update, the Virtual Apparel Try-On feature is now available across India. This tool enables shoppers to experiment with various outfits digitally, helping them make confident purchase decisions.

To access this feature, users need to look for a newly added “Try it on” button within supported online product listings. Upon selecting it, Google uses a specialized Imagen AI model capable of understanding human body proportions, depth, and structure.

Shoppers are then redirected to a dedicated Try-On page, where they can upload a full-body photograph. Based on their search preferences, the AI generates personalized outfit previews. The system can accurately interpret fabric textures and how materials drape or move, using product imagery.
As a result, the experience feels highly realistic despite being entirely virtual. To ensure optimal performance, Google has outlined certain usage guidelines. The AI currently supports only full-body images, and users should upload a single, clear photo rather than group images. Adequate lighting is also essential for accurate fitting and depth analysis. Once users are happy with the virtual look, they can save it or instantly share it with friends and family.
