One of Gemini Nano’s standout features on Google Pixel is its AI-powered scam detection, which analyzes calls in real-time for suspicious behavior helping users avoid potential fraud. Originally introduced at Google I/O 2024, the feature rolled out to Pixel phones as part of the March Pixel Feature Drop. Now, it appears that Scam Detection is expanding to more devices.
According to a newly published support page, Google has confirmed that Scam Detection is now rolling out to the Pixel Watch 2 and 3. Starting today, users with a Pixel 9 can take advantage of this feature on their smartwatches. However, it’s important to note that Scam Detection on Pixel Watches is currently only available in the U.S. and in English.

Since Pixel Watches lack the hardware needed to run the AI models locally, you’ll need to be connected to your Pixel phone to use the Scam Detection feature regardless of whether you’re using the LTE or Wi-Fi-only variant.
That said, it’s a bit disappointing that the feature isn’t available for Pixel 8 users, especially considering that device also supports Gemini Nano’s Scam Detection. Hopefully, Google expands compatibility to more models in the near future.
To make sure Scam Detection is active, simply open the Phone app on your Pixel device and go to Settings > Scam Detection. From there, just toggle the feature on, and it should begin working on your connected Pixel Watch. To confirm it’s running, you’ll hear an audible beep at the start of the call and every few minutes during the conversation.
In related news, Google recently pushed out a hotfix update for the Pixel Watch 2 and 3, addressing issues like delayed notifications and random restarts. Interestingly, some users have also spotted a mysterious Gemini icon appearing during calls, hinting that Gemini or additional AI features might be coming to Pixel Watches soon.
