Fortnite is about to receive a significant upgrade that will greatly enhance the performance for users with RTX 40 series graphics cards. The popular battle royale game is set to embrace Nvidia’s DLSS 3 technology, promising exciting improvements. Let’s delve into the details, exploring the benefits that DLSS 3 will bring to the Fortnite experience.
DLSS 3 Enhancement Confirmed for Fortnite
In a recent blog post, NVIDIA has officially announced the integration of DLSS 3 into Fortnite. This anticipated update is expected to roll out “by this fall,” ensuring that players can enjoy its benefits before the year’s end. This enhancement will also extend to titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and PAYDAY 3, following the introduction of Nvidia’s DLSS 3.5 technology.
This isn’t Fortnite’s first encounter with DLSS. Back in 2020, the game underwent updates that introduced support for ray-tracing, NVIDIA Reflex, and DLSS 2. So, what exactly does DLSS 3 bring to the table? It introduces frame generation, a clever technique that employs artificial intelligence to inject “fake frames” into your gameplay, resulting in smoother visuals. With this feature activated, players wielding RTX 40 series GPUs will witness a remarkable boost in FPS within Fortnite. You can dive into the specifics of Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology and how it elevates the gaming experience.
To illustrate, imagine running Fortnite on an RTX 40 Series GPU at around 100 FPS. With the forthcoming DLSS 3 update, that number could surge to an impressive 150-200 FPS! Drawing from my own experience using DLSS 3, I’ve observed a 1.5x to 2x increase in FPS across various games.
It’s worth noting that DLSS 3 isn’t without its trade-offs, it does lead to higher input latency, which isn’t ideal for competitive gaming. However, NVIDIA’s Reflex technology does play a significant role in mitigating this issue. Every user should definitely enable Reflex after activating DLSS 3. While enabling DLSS 3 on Fortnite can elevate the gaming experience for many, some players might find the slight delay in mouse input somewhat off-putting.
Nevertheless, for those who don’t mind the input lag, this feature promises a markedly improved experience, nearly doubling their in-game performance.
