We’ve all been there: thinking we’ve finished vacuuming, only to discover dirt in hard-to-reach spots like corners under the bed or couch. To address these pesky issues, Dyson has developed a smartphone app that precisely indicates where you’ve vacuumed and where you haven’t. It’s a fantastic solution that ensures a spotless home every time you clean, allowing you to enjoy a truly clean space.
It appears that Dyson has transformed the captivating concept video of Apple Vision Pro into a tangible product. When Vision Pro hit the market in February, numerous YouTube videos showcased the potential of this top-tier mixed-reality headset. Among them, a concept video stood out, demonstrating how the Vision Pro could inject fun into the mundane task of vacuuming. People were seen collecting virtual gold coins akin to Mario on cleaning duty, and it garnered significant attention. Now, Dyson has brought this idea to life, eliminating the need for a $3500 mixed-reality headset to experience the joy of gamified cleaning.
Dyson CleanTrace AR App
Dyson, renowned for its powerful vacuum cleaners, is set to launch a new innovation: Dyson CleanTrace. This cutting-edge AR (Augmented Reality) tool, scheduled for release in June, leverages your smartphone’s LiDAR scanner to track your vacuuming in real-time. Cleaned areas will be highlighted in purple on the map, while untouched sections awaiting your vacuum’s attention will remain blank.
This innovation not only directs your focus to commonly overlooked areas in your home but also saves you time by eliminating the need to revisit cleaned sections. Isn’t that incredibly convenient? While such advancements might have seemed far-fetched not long ago, today they feel nothing short of magical.
Dyson’s AR app appears to draw inspiration from the technology behind the recently launched Dyson 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum cleaner in the US. According to Dyson, data shows that approximately 80% of cleaning sessions are completed in less than 10 minutes. However, with Dyson’s recommendations, users tend to vacuum for an average of 24 minutes per session. For those who prioritize a spotless environment, this new app could be the solution they’ve been seeking.
Recognizing the difficulty of juggling a phone while vacuuming, Dyson will be launching a dedicated Dyson CleanTrace phone clamp to securely mount your phone in place. As for pricing details for both the clamp and the Dyson CleanTrace service, Dyson has yet to disclose them. However, with the release slated for just a few months away, the wait shouldn’t be too long.
But there’s a catch
Undoubtedly, the Dyson CleanTrace AR tool appears incredibly exciting. However, there’s a significant caveat: currently, Dyson’s CleanTrace AR is only compatible with the Dyson Gen5detect, one of Dyson’s most expensive models priced at $999.
While it’s understandable for this AR cleaning tool to be exclusive to Dyson vacuum cleaners, it’s disappointing that it’s limited to the highest-priced model. This innovative and practical cleaning tool would have garnered more affection if it could be used with Dyson’s more affordable vacuum cleaner models. There’s no indication yet whether Dyson plans to extend this tool to other models, but we hope they do.
