ASUS Unveils Quad-Slot RTX 4080 Super with Noctua Cooling

ASUS, in collaboration with Noctua, has introduced the GeForce RTX 4080 Super Noctua OC Edition, showcasing the brand’s renowned expertise in premium cooling solutions for PC hardware. This graphics card is a testament to the continued partnership between the two companies, following the success of previous special Noctua edition GPUs.

Unveiled alongside other GPUs by Nvidia at CES 2024, the RTX 4080 Super Noctua OC Edition boasts exceptional thickness, requiring 4 slots of PCIe expansion space within your PC case. It is equipped with two Noctua NF-A12-x25 PWM fans, ensuring efficient cooling performance.

This release follows the earlier Asus RTX 3080 Noctua Edition, maintaining the tradition of offering high-quality graphics cards with Noctua cooling solutions. The RTX 4080 Super features 16GB of GDDR6X video memory capacity, contributing to its impressive performance. For more details on the RTX 40 Super lineup, refer to our previous coverage.

Equipped with the latest architecture, the Noctua edition RTX 4080 Super by Asus features 4th Gen Tensor Cores and 3rd Gen RT Cores, supporting Nvidia’s DLSS 3 frame generation technology.

While one might consider simply attaching these fans to an existing graphics card, the Asus RTX 4080 Super Noctua OC Edition goes beyond a mere modification. It integrates Noctua’s renowned fans into a design optimized in collaboration with Asus. This includes a vapor chamber tailored to enhance the cooling efficiency of the large fin array heatsink alongside the fans.

The result is a graphics card meticulously engineered from the ground up to deliver exceptional performance and whisper-quiet operation, earning it the title of the “quietest air-cooled graphics card in its class.” This claim is substantiated by the well-established reputation of Noctua fans. Additionally, the inclusion of a dual BIOS switch allows users to effortlessly switch between Quiet and Performance profiles according to their preferences.

The Asus RTX 4080 Super Noctua OC Edition incorporates 0dB fan speed technology and Asus GPU Tweak III software, enabling users to customize various aspects of their GPU’s performance. With a boost clock reaching up to 2640 MHz, this OC edition promises impressive performance. Featuring five display outputs, including three DisplayPort and two HDMI ports.

While Noctua’s aesthetic has sparked debate, many appreciate its distinctive dark and light brown color scheme. Although it may not complement every color palette, careful planning of the overall PC build can ensure a cohesive look.

In a limited edition build showcased by Maingear, the Noctua edition graphics card takes center stage, complemented by additional fans from the brand and a PC case designed to match the distinctive color scheme.

Asus RTX 4080 Super Noctua OC Edition: Pricing & Availability

As of now, Asus has not disclosed the pricing for their special edition GPU. However, the previous RTX 4080 Noctua edition was launched at $1649, which was $450 more than the original RTX 4080.

Considering Nvidia’s pricing of the RTX 4080 Super at $999, it’s plausible to anticipate a lower price for this new GPU compared to its non-Super variant. While we await further details on its availability, there are currently no listings from retailers for this graphics card.
