Apple May Unveil Apple Pencil Pro at ‘Let Loose’ iPad Event

Today marks the day when Apple is set to unveil its highly anticipated new iPads. This event, Apple’s first of 2024, will see the tech giant refreshing its iPad Pro and iPad Air lineup. While the focus of Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ event on May 7 will primarily be on iPads, there are hints suggesting a new Apple Pencil might also be on the horizon.

Apple’s website provides insight into what to expect at the upcoming event. Code found on Apple’s official website for Japan has uncovered multiple mentions of the name “Apple Pencil Pro.” These references are currently only visible in the page source and developer views of the site, with no publicly visible mentions yet. This discovery was first shared by a user on X (Twitter).

Interestingly, Apple’s Let Loose event invite prominently features an Apple Pencil alongside the company’s logo. Earlier today, Apple updated its website for the upcoming event and added an erasable ‘Let Loose’ logo, hinting that we might expect some announcements related to the Apple Pencil at the event.

Currently, Apple offers three generations of the Apple Pencil: the 1st generation, the 2nd generation, and the USB-C variant. The rumored “Apple Pencil Pro” would potentially be a new addition to the Apple Pencil lineup, yet to be officially announced.

It’s worth noting that there are no mentions of the Apple Pencil Pro in the code for the US version of the website. This leaves us with two possibilities. First, it could be an unfortunate copy error on the Japanese site. Second, it could be an accidental slip-up and a strong indicator that Apple is indeed planning to upgrade its stylus lineup tomorrow.

Setting aside the name confusion for a moment, the exciting news is that we can expect a new Apple Pencil alongside the new iPads. Rumors have suggested that the new Apple Pencil could come with visionOS support and introduce a new “squeeze” gesture for a more precise drawing experience.

In addition to the new Apple Pencil, Apple is expected to unveil new models of the iPad Air and iPad Pro. The new iPad Pro is anticipated to be a significant upgrade, featuring cutting-edge OLED displays, the powerful M4 chip, and an improved design. As for the new iPad Air, Apple is likely expanding its mid-range iPad lineup by introducing the first-ever 12.9-inch iPad Air.

Apple’s Let Loose event begins on May 7 at 7 AM Pacific Time. Stay tuned for all the important updates.
