Apple Pencil Pro Launched with Haptic Engine and Squeeze Gestures

Apple has introduced the Apple Pencil Pro alongside the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models, offering an upgrade over the Apple Pencil (2nd gen) with new features and Find My support. This marks the first time Apple has used the “Pro” designation in its Pencil lineup since its inception in 2015. Here is a detailed overview of its features and capabilities.

The Apple Pencil Pro is equipped with a new sensor inside its barrel designed to detect a user’s squeeze. With a simple squeeze, you can switch between various tools during creation or editing, such as opening a customizable tool palette or changing colors without pausing your workflow. The new Pencil also includes a built-in haptic engine that provides feedback for actions such as double-taps and squeezes.

Additionally, the Pencil Pro includes a gyroscope that replicates the natural action of rotating a pen. This provides precise control over a chosen tool, making it behave like a real-world pen on paper. This, combined with the Apple Pencil hover feature, provides a visual aid, eliminating guesswork by showing you the exact orientation of a tool.

The Apple Pencil Pro features a new magnetic interface that allows it to seamlessly pair and charge directly on the side of the new iPad Pro. Furthermore, the Pencil Pro includes Apple Find My support for additional peace of mind.

In addition to the Pencil Pro, Apple has also unveiled the new Magic Keyboard. The updated version is thinner and lighter, featuring the same floating design as its predecessor. It offers access to controls such as screen brightness and volume, and the redesigned keyboard includes an aluminum palm rest and a larger haptic trackpad.

The Magic Keyboard attaches magnetically and charges through a Smart Connector, removing the necessity for Bluetooth pairing or wired charging. It is offered in two color options: white with a silver palm rest and black with a space black palm rest.

The new Smart Folio features a magnetic attachment and supports multiple viewing angles for the iPad. It’s available in black, white, and denim colors to match the new iPad Pro.

The Apple Pencil Pro is priced at $129 and is compatible only with the new iPad Pro. The 11-inch version of the new Magic Keyboard is priced at $299, while the 13-inch version costs $349. As for the Smart Folio, it is available for $79 for the 11-inch variant and $99 for the 13-inch variant.
