Music plays a vital role in our daily lives whether it’s to pass the time, boost your mood, or help you concentrate. Recognizing music’s powerful impact on the mind, Apple Music teamed up with Universal Music Group and Sollos to launch Sound Therapy, a curated playlist designed to help you focus, unwind, and fall back asleep.
Sound Therapy on Apple Music combines tracks from your favorite artists with specially designed sound waves that target specific effects for listeners. All this is achieved while maintaining the artist’s original intent. These waves are grounded in scientific research, using principles from psychoacoustics and cognitive science to help users relax or sharpen their focus.

You can find Sound Therapy collections in the Apple Music app under the “New” tab. There are three playlists available: Focus, Relax, and Sleep. According to Apple’s blog, “Gamma waves and white noise—a whooshing blend of all sound frequencies—may boost focus; theta waves can help with relaxation; and delta waves and pink noise—a softer, gentler sound like rain or wind—might improve sleep quality.”
As I write this, I’m listening to “When the Party’s Over” by Chad Lawson. Whether it’s the track itself or just a placebo effect, I definitely feel more focused than before. These songs tend to soften other elements, and vocals are mostly missing, but I still recommend giving them a shot if you’re struggling to focus, relax, or fall asleep.
