Apple Unveils macOS 15 Sequoia featuring iPhone Mirroring, Passwords App, and More

At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, Apple unveiled macOS 15 Sequoia as the next major update for Mac. This version introduces significant changes, including iPhone Mirroring, Presenter Preview, the new Passwords app, automatic window tiling, and more. Here’s a comprehensive look at macOS 15 Sequoia:

iPhone Mirroring enables users to mirror their iPhone’s content onto a Mac without requiring the iPhone to be physically present. This feature allows access to notifications and the use of all iPhone apps directly from the Mac. Additionally, audio from the iPhone can be relayed to the Mac during mirroring. Throughout this process, the iPhone remains secure and locked on the lock screen.

macOS Sequoia introduces efficient window tiling, allowing users to drag windows to the edge for automatic placement. The update also includes a Presenter Preview feature for video calls, enabling users to apply custom backgrounds.

Additionally, there’s a new Passwords app that enhances the Apple Keychain, offering a convenient solution for managing passwords, Wi-Fi credentials, passkeys, and more. The Messages app in macOS 15 Sequoia now supports message scheduling, new text effects, and emoji and sticker Tapbacks.

Apple has also unveiled a range of Apple Intelligence features for Apple M-powered Macs. The new supercharged Siri offers a more natural and contextual conversation experience. Furthermore, there are AI-enhanced audio transcription and summarization features in Notes, and the new Clean Up tool in the Photos app can remove distracting objects from images using Apple Intelligence.

Other new features in macOS 15 include an updated Calculator app with calculation history and expressions, a combined view of events and tasks in the Calendar app, and the ability to create custom walking routes on Apple Maps. Additionally, Safari browser introduces a new Highlights feature that helps users discover information on the web more conveniently, along with a redesigned Reader mode that makes content easier to read.

macOS 15 Sequoia is available on supported Mac devices and is currently available as a beta update for developers. Regular users will need to wait for the public beta to avoid encountering persistent issues.
