Apple has revised the battery life expectations for both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, revealing a longer lifespan than initially anticipated. After retesting the batteries, the Cupertino tech giant updated the battery cycle lifespan for these models.
Initially, Apple advertised that all iPhones’ batteries would maintain up to 80% of their original capacity after 500 complete charge cycles. However, in a recent support document, Apple has doubled its claim. Now, the company asserts that the batteries in the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max can retain 80% of their capacity even after 1,000 complete charge cycles, under ideal conditions.
Currently, the extended battery lifespan only pertains to the iPhone 15 models, while earlier versions remain rated at 500 cycles. Apple is, however, investigating older models to verify the accuracy of their charge cycle points.
According to MacRumors, Apple conducted testing on the iPhone 15 battery by charging and discharging it 1,000 times under typical usage conditions. The company attributes this improvement to ongoing updates to iPhone battery components and the power management system.
In its support document, Apple emphasized that the exact battery capacity percentage of any iPhone model is influenced by regular usage and charging habits.
While iPhone battery life has historically been a concern, users continuously seek tips to conserve battery power. With Apple’s claim of extended battery lifespan in the iPhone 15 series, users are likely to be delighted. However, it’s essential to monitor the iPhone 15 battery cycle count regularly, as this information is not available for older iPhone models.
Furthermore, Apple updated the Battery Health Settings in iOS 17.4, simplifying the process of monitoring battery health. Simply navigate to Settings -> Battery on your iPhone to access Battery Health and Charging Optimization sections. Here, users can quickly check their settings or tap for more detailed information.
