AI has been a hot topic in the industry recently, and this year’s MWC is no different. Among the array of AI products and concepts being unveiled, one that’s turning heads is a concept AI smartphone from Deutsche Telekom.
Today, Deutsche Telekom unveiled a novel concept device that relies entirely on AI. It’s an experimental handset designed to fulfill all user needs using AI rather than traditional apps.
The inspiration behind this device seems to reflect the company’s vision for the future of smartphones. “I can confidently say that in 5-10 years, none of us will be using apps anymore,” stated CEO Tim Hoettges during the keynote presentation.
Some potential uses for such a device include submitting requests and receiving AI-generated suggestions for travel, dining, or shopping. Alternatively, users could snap a photo and ask the AI to share it with friends and family.
Deutsche Telekom collaborated with Qualcomm and Brain.AI to develop this AI handset. Interestingly, Brain.AI already offers an iOS app claiming similar functionality to this phone. However, many reviews of the app seem to be negative.
It’s worth noting that the AI handset is merely a concept. There’s a strong possibility it may never materialize beyond the concept stage.
