It seems 2K Games has something exciting in store for fans this year. While the parent company, Take-Two Interactive, recently confirmed the release date for GTA 6, 2K Games also has a surprise in store. The company has announced that it will unveil the next installment of one of its most beloved franchises during the official Summer Games Fest.
As revealed by the Summer Game Fest X account (formerly Twitter), the renowned publisher will introduce a brand-new game. Although neither the Summer Game Fest nor the publisher provided further details immediately, we can anticipate more information on June 7, 2024, when the Summer Game Fest kicks off.
As for what the company might announce, there are several beloved games in their portfolio. However, it’s unlikely to be a sports game, as those are typically released annually. So, we can rule out titles like NBA 2K or another WWE 2K game for now.
One possibility is a fourth installment in one of their franchises. 2K Games has three sequels under them, all of which would be the fourth entries in their respective series. This could mean an announcement for Mafia 4. Another possibility is the long-awaited fourth entry in the critically acclaimed BioShock series.
Additionally, Take-Two’s acquisition of Gearbox for 2K Games included confirmation that Borderlands 4 was in development. Therefore, the announcement could also be related to Borderlands 4. With the Borderlands movie set to release this year, announcing the sequel alongside the film’s schedule would be a strategic move.
