Tekken 8 Reveals Release Date and New Game Modes at Gamescom 2023

Bandai Namco has been actively introducing new characters for Tekken 8, the upcoming installment in their long-standing fighting game series. With its first gameplay showcased on PlayStation, and after successful network tests, character reveals, and leaks, the game has now received an official release date during Gamescom 2023 ONL. The latest trailer also provides a glimpse into the array of features that Tekken 8 will offer.

Tekken 8 Trailer Highlights Key Features and Introduces Four New Characters

To start with the big news, Tekken 8 is set to launch on January 26, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. The game will feature a roster of 32 distinct characters, including the return of four familiar faces.

The trailer reveals the comeback of characters like Dragunov and Shaheen from Tekken 7, along with Steve Fox, Leo, and Yoshimitsu. While the trailer provides brief glimpses of their Rage Art moves, it doesn’t go into extensive detail. The video also confirms that Tekken 8’s storyline takes place after the events of Tekken 7, with Heihachi Mishima deceased and Nina Williams leading a group of Jack-8 robots.

Beyond the single-player narrative and online multiplayer, Tekken 8 is expanding its single-player content. The game introduces a new Arcade Quest mode, allowing players to create personalized avatars and compete against others. Character customization plays a significant role, enabling players to fine-tune and alter their chosen characters’ appearance and attire. The addition of a tournament mode and something reminiscent of Street Fighter 6’s Battle Hub is also in the works. Additionally, the return of character customization means that players can tailor the Tekken 8 roster to suit their preferences.

The trailer showcases moments like Paul donning his classic outfit, implying that character outfits can be unlocked and altered as desired. Moreover, special weapons from Tekken 7’s character customization feature are also demonstrated.

In essence, Tekken 8 aims to cater to both veteran Tekken enthusiasts and newcomers, offering a comprehensive gaming experience.
