Now that we’ve delved into various Pokémon types, let’s continue the exploration by discussing Steel-type Pokémon and their unique traits. This archetype is prevalent across the games and boasts several popular creatures. If you’re assembling a team with these stalwart allies, read on as we dissect (figuratively, of course) their strengths and weaknesses below!
Strengths of Steel-type Pokémon
Steel-type Pokémon, such as Dialga and Aegislash, stand out as formidable creatures in the Pokémon world. Over the generations, they’ve undergone two notable changes. Upon their introduction in the second generation, they exhibited strength against Rock and Ice types.
With the arrival of the fifth generation, Steel-type Pokémon saw an expansion in their strengths, now countering Rock, Ice, and Fairy-type Pokémon.
Weaknesses of Steel-type Pokémon
Like most Pokémon, Steel-types have their vulnerabilities. Interestingly, these weaknesses encompass some of the more common elements encountered in the mainline Pokémon games. Steel Pokémon are susceptible to Fighting, Fire, and Ground-types. This susceptibility can be attributed to steel’s ability to absorb heat effectively.
Thus, in battle, your Dialga may struggle against adversaries like Charizard or Dugtrio. Dialga’s attacks might not deliver their full impact against these opponents, while in turn, their assaults could inflict significant harm upon Dialga.
Resistance of Steel-type Pokémon
Among all Pokémon types, Steel-types boast an impressive array of resistances to various elements. Upon their introduction in the second generation, they effortlessly resisted Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Dark-type attacks. Additionally, they are immune to Poison. Consequently, a Dialga can effectively battle Pokémon of these types and withstand the majority of their attacks.
With the rollout of the fifth generation, this list was shortened to exclude Ghost and Dark-type resistances. However, to compensate for this omission, Fairy-type Pokémon were added as a resistance.
As of the fifth generation and beyond, the final list of resistances for Steel-type Pokémon includes Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-types. Fortunately, their immunity to Poison remains unchanged, persisting in all subsequent game releases.
As evident, Steel-type Pokémon boast a range of strengths, weaknesses, and resistances to navigate in the Pokémon world. How has your experience been with them so far? Drop your opinions in the comments box underneath!
