Steam Removes Helldivers 2 Access in Unsupported PSN Regions

By now, it’s widely known how the controversy surrounding Helldivers 2 has significantly impacted the game’s ratings, causing them to plummet to alarming lows. Despite expectations for Sony to address the forced integration, the situation has escalated. Steam has recently removed Helldivers 2 from its listings in all unsupported PlayStation Network (PSN) countries.

Link Steam and PSN Accounts

The alteration was first noticed on the Helldivers 2 SteamDB page. In the Updates section, it’s evident that Steam has modified the ‘PurchaseRestrictedCountries‘ parameter to include a list of countries where access to the PlayStation Network is not available.

Consequently, gamers in non-PSN countries on Steam will no longer be able to purchase Helldivers 2. This change is already visible in various storefronts, such as in the Philippines, where the buy button is now inaccessible.

Steam is offering refunds to players who purchased Helldivers 2 in unsupported countries, lifting its usual two-hour playtime limit in this exceptional circumstance. However, this leaves longtime fans of Helldivers with no alternative.

As of now, Helldivers 2’s rating has plummeted to ‘Mostly Negative,’ with only 21% positive reviews in the last 30 days. It’s evident that the current situation lacks any positivity.

The responsibility now lies with Sony. What will they do next? While speculation is rife, it’s possible that this decision may remain unchanged. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
