Starfield to Receive Official DLSS Support and Quality of Life Improvements in Upcoming Updates

Bethesda has been attentive to player feedback regarding missing features in Starfield’s launch. The game lacked several expected features, such as DLSS support for Nvidia GPUs, FOV sliders, and others. In response to these concerns, Bethesda is rolling out important updates. Additionally, Bethesda addressed the topic of official mod support for the game.

Future Starfield Update to Bring Official DLSS Support

Bethesda has shared its post-launch plans for Starfield in an official announcement on X (formerly Twitter) and their official Steam news page for the game. They expressed gratitude for the support the game has received and released a small hotfix with performance improvements. Although this hotfix isn’t a major update, Bethesda revealed what players can expect in the future.

The significant upcoming addition to Starfield is official DLSS support for Nvidia GPUs. Despite the initial announcement of Bethesda’s partnership with AMD for the PC port, many players were concerned that the game would not support DLSS. These concerns turned out to be valid, as the game was launched with AMD FSR2 support. While modders added unofficial support for Nvidia’s upscaling technology, Starfield lacked official DLSS support.

Furthermore, Bethesda has confirmed that they are collaborating with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel to enhance driver support, which will lead to improved stability and performance for the game. In addition to DLSS support, Starfield will receive several other changes that players have requested since the game’s launch. Some of these essential changes include:

  • Brightness and Contrast controls
  • HDR Calibration Menu
  • FOV Slider
  • 32:9 Ultrawide Monitor Support (PC)
  • Eat button for food

Many of the issues mentioned above, such as the FOV problems, were addressed by modders shortly after the game’s release. It’s reassuring to see that Starfield is officially incorporating these features into a future update.

Early Next Year: Starfield Mod Support Release Date Announced

Official mod support is an essential feature for many players, and it’s great to know that Bethesda is working on adding built-in mod support for Starfield. The fact that it will be available across all platforms, including PC and Xbox Series X/S, and will work similarly to previous Bethesda titles like Skyrim and Fallout 4, is promising.

While the release date for mod support has not been specified, Bethesda has confirmed that it’s coming early next year. This aligns with what Todd Howard mentioned in a recent interview, where he stated that mod support is in development and should be available on both platforms in 2024. In the meantime, players can enjoy the various mods created by the community.
