Black Myth: Wukong is packed with various mechanics that players might overlook if they rush through the game. One such crucial mechanic is the use of Medicines, which can significantly alter the outcome of battles when used strategically. While you can buy Medicines from the Shrine Store or find them in the overworld, crafting them is often a better option. However, you’ll need to unlock this ability first. Here’s a detailed guide on how to craft Medicines in Black Myth: Wukong.
Types of Medicines
In Black Myth: Wukong, there are two main types of Medicines:
- Mortal Medicines
- Celestial Medicines
Crafting these Medicines requires completing a quest involving the NPC “Xu Dog.” Follow the steps below to unlock the crafting ability.
1. Meet Xu Dog
To start crafting Medicines, you must first progress to Chapter 2 of the game. Once you’ve completed Chapter 1 and entered Chapter 2, continue forward until you reach the Village Entrance Shrine in Sandgate Village. From this point, take a side path leading to a lower ground area. Keep moving forward until you enter a cave where you’ll meet Xu Dog, the NPC who will help you unlock the crafting ability.
2. Defeat Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw
After you’ve met Xu Dog, he will give you a task to retrieve one of his formulas, which has been swallowed by a frog named Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw. This boss can be found in a large opening in the ground right next to Xu Dog. Defeat Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw, and then return to Xu Dog. Completing this task will unlock the ability to craft both Mortal and Celestial Medicines, allowing you to create powerful items that can turn the tide in battles.
How to Obtain Celestial Medicines in Black Myth: Wukong
Celestial Medicines differ from Mortal Medicines because their effects are permanent. They can be used to permanently upgrade maximum health, defenses, mana, and more. To access this area, you must defeat the main bosses of Chapter 2: Tiger and Stone Vanguard.
Use the Sternness of Stone and Keenness of Tiger keys to unlock the sealed areas. After that, you can choose to go through the Tiger Temple Cellar or past the Windseal gate to reach Xu Dog near the Cellar Shrine.
To reach the Windseal gate, take the left path from the Yellow Wind Sage boss fight location. After you meet Xu Dog again, he will thank you for saving him and become a merchant NPC. You can now craft Celestial Medicines by interacting with him. These medicines require Mind Cores, which are rare drops from powerful bosses, so keep an eye out for them.
