How to Get an Invitation to the Deadlock Playtest


After a long period of secrecy, Valve has finally unveiled Deadlock. Although this MOBA and hero shooter was previously available only to selected players, its Steam store page has now provided details on how to secure an invitation to the Deadlock playtest. If you’re eager to join the playtest, keep reading to find out how!

Where to Obtain an Invite to the Deadlock Playtest

The most reliable way to obtain a Deadlock playtest invite is directly from Valve. However, Valve’s official invites are scarce, typically reserved for streamers and a select few. Alternatively, you can connect with an existing Deadlock playtester and request an invite from them. Follow these steps to find out how:

1. Find a Deadlock Playtester

To obtain a Deadlock playtest invite, you’ll need to connect with someone who already has access. While Valve initially provided only a limited number of invitations, many players now have access to the game, with SteamDB showing over 80k concurrent players. This means finding someone with access should be relatively easy.

Start by exploring X threads or Reddit discussions to locate players who might be willing to add you on Steam and send you an invite. The Deadlock subreddit is a great place to find players who can help you with an invite. Be cautious of scammers or suspicious links genuine invites are typically shared through a Steam profile link or a friend code. Once you’ve added a friend with Deadlock access, you can move on to the next step.

2. Have Your Friend Send You an Invite from Within Deadlock

Note: Invites may take longer than an hour to arrive, potentially up to 1-2 days. If you’ve already sent an invite to a friend, please be patient.

Once your friend has added you to the game, they will need to follow these steps to invite you to the Deadlock playtest:

1. Open Deadlock and choose the “Invite Your Friends” option from the bottom right corner.

2. Click on your profile from the pop-up menu and send the invite.

3. Wait for at least 30 to 60 minutes. The person invited will receive an email from Steam.

4. Check the email, accept the playtest invitation, and install Deadlock.
