Genshin Impact: Ranking All Fatui Harbingers

The Fatui Harbingers are followers of the Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon of Snezhnaya. They travel across Teyvat to retrieve Gnoses from Archons, aiming to overthrow the rule of Gods and Celestia, and free Teyvat. As the traveler explores Teyvat, they encounter some Harbingers, occasionally engaging in combat to protect the people. In Genshin Impact, there are 11 Fatui Harbingers, with some being playable characters.

The ranking of these Harbingers in terms of strength is a subject of debate. Some suggest they’re ranked by strength, while others believe it’s based on when they joined the Fatui. As such, the rankings provided here are subjective, and opinions on their order can vary. If you have thoughts on why one Fatui Harbinger should rank higher than another, feel free to share them.

WARNING: The article below contains spoilers from Achrons and Story quests.

11. Tartaglia / Childe

From the beginning, it was clear that Childe is the most recent addition to the Fatui and considered the least powerful Harbinger. He wields a Hydro Vision, an Electro Delusion, and has a Foul Legacy state acquired after his descent into the Abyss. Travelers encounter Childe during the Archon quest, facing him in various forms at its conclusion. While Childe is not weak per se, his standing among the other Fatui Harbingers highlights his relative lack of power.

Childe likely became significantly stronger after battling the All-Devouring Narwhal as punishment for a crime in Fontaine’s court. In Teyvat time, this fight lasted 45 days, but time flows differently in the Abyss. Some speculate that he may have fought in his Foul Legacy transformation for years. Despite this, unless the game explicitly states that he has risen in rank, many still consider Childe to be the weakest Harbinger.

10. Pantalone / Regrator

Pantalone, unlike other Fatui Harbingers, wields a Delusion and lacks a Vision. Despite limited information about him, it’s known he was born into poverty. This background likely influenced his questioning of divine control over mortal lives, as well as his belief that Gods should not possess Mora or unnecessary items, which fuels his animosity toward Zhongli.

In Teyvat, Pantalone could be the wealthiest individual and influences Snezhnaya’s economic policies. While details about his abilities are scarce, lore indicates he collaborated closely with Dottore and nearly succeeded in creating an Artificial God for Sumeru. Dottore, the third most potent Harbinger, recognizing Pantalone’s importance suggests he holds considerable power within the Fatui ranks.

9. La Signora / The Fair Lady

La Signora is first encountered by travelers at the conclusion of the initial Archon Quest in Mondstadt. In a pivotal moment, she humiliates Venti, now considered one of the weaker Archons, and absconds with his Gnosis. Her next appearance is in Liyue, where she enters into a contract with Zhongli and takes his Gnosis as well. The traveler encounters her once more in Inazuma, where she meets her end at the hands of the Raiden Shogun. La Signora harnesses the powers of the Crimson Witch (Pyro) and employs a Cryo delusion, making her one of the most formidable adversaries faced by the traveler in Teyvat, second only to Scaramouche’s False God in Sumeru.

In addition to her combative prowess, La Signora manages diplomatic relations between Snezhnaya and other nations. Her strength likely surpassed that of Childe and Pantalone in Genshin Impact, attributed to her mastery of the Crimson Witch’s powers and possession of a potent Cryo delusion.

8. Sandrone / Marionette

In Genshin Impact, there is currently no detailed information available about Sandrone, aside from speculation that she might be the Mary Ann mentioned in a photograph during the Narzissenkreuz questline, along with Jakob, Rene, Basil Elton, and Lyris. The name “Marionette,” which means “Little Mary,” hints at a potential connection between the two.

According to one of Childe’s voice lines, Sandrone is heavily involved in constructing machinery. He also mentions that whenever he attempted to interact with her, she seemed to harbor a strong animosity towards him.

Another voice line, attributed to Wanderer, praises her research abilities but then boasts about being a rank above her despite her vast knowledge, suggesting that Sandrone is likely not more powerful than Scaramouche.

7. Scaramouce / Balladeer

During a dialogue in an Archon quest with Yae Miko, it is hinted that the Balladeer is considered the sixth strongest among the Fatui Harbingers. While this claim is disputed, fitting the Balladeer into the roster places him in the seventh position. The Balladeer, who stole the Electro Gnosis and seemingly betrayed the Fatui, aimed to attain godhood in Sumeru with the assistance of sages.

Possessing an Electro Delusion and an imposing presence, the Shouki no Kami had power comparable to that of gods, making him one of the most formidable adversaries the traveler faces. Scaramouche later transforms into Wanderer by erasing his existence from Irminsul but retains all memories with the aid of Nahida. He then acquires an Anemo vision by the quest’s conclusion, solidifying his position as one of the strongest Harbingers in Genshin Impact.

6. Arlecchino / The Knave

Arlecchino, also known as The Knave, oversees the House of Hearth in Fontaine, which provides shelter for orphans. Among these orphans are Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet, who are considered “children” of Arlecchino. While not much is known about her powers, further details may be revealed as we approach Genshin Impact version 4.6.

Initial interactions with Arlecchino do not paint her as a particularly intimidating adversary. She assisted Possion in gaining ground after losses incurred due to the primordial sea in exchange for the Hydro Gnosis. However, Wanderer’s voice lines describing her as “a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” suggest that she may not be an easy foe to overcome.

5. Pulcinella / The Rooster

Pulcinella, known as “The Rooster,” serves as the Mayor of Snezhnaya. While his background remains largely undisclosed, it is known that he has significantly aided Childe’s family to their advantage.

Childe’s voice lines suggest Pulcinella’s role in caring for his siblings, while Wanderer implies that Childe’s perception of Pulcinella as good is misguided, as Pulcinella holds Childe’s entire family hostage. Despite his seemingly benevolent demeanor, Pulcinella’s true power and position as the fifth strongest Harbinger may be underestimated due to his appearance.

4. Columbina / Damselette

Nahida suggests that the first three or four Fatui Harbingers possess strength comparable to that of gods, a sentiment echoed by Childe and Wanderer in their descriptions. Columbina first appeared singing on La Signora’s casket in the video “Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser: A Winter Night’s Lazzo.”

Little is known about Columbina’s abilities, Vision, or Delusion, and it seems unlikely that more information will be revealed soon. Childe’s voice lines hint at something unsettling about Columbina, while Wanderer, in his usual mocking tone towards the Harbingers, warns the traveler to be cautious when discussing Columbina. His description of Damselette suggests she appears innocent but behaves apathetically and insensitively in any situation, indicating she may be exceptionally powerful and indifferent.

3. Dottore / The Doctor

Dottore possesses strength comparable to the gods of Teyvat and is a highly cunning individual encountered during the Archon quest. He strategically distributes his fragments across the world, using them to surveil and gather information. Dottore’s ultimate aim is to elevate humans to the status of gods, which is why he collaborated with the Sages of Sumeru to create a new god for the region.

During the climax of the Archon’s quest, we encounter Dottore, who swiftly incapacitates us using unknown methods. He then “exchanges” the Electro Gnosis in his possession for the erasure of his fragments. Nahida also makes a similar exchange, offering vital information about the fabricated nature of the “Skies of Teyvat” in return for her Dendro Gnosis.

2. Capitano / The Captain

Capitano is likely the highest-ranked Fatui harbinger. Current events in the game suggest he is in Natlan for some undisclosed “work,” which aligns with the traveler’s next destination. Mika and Grandmaster Varka encountered Capitano during an expedition and were greatly impressed by his presence and prowess.

Childe admires Capitano’s combat skills, considering them a spectacle, but notes that Capitano’s rank is too low to garner much attention. Conversely, Wanderer mocks The Captain for his extreme righteousness and emphasizes his exceptional “personal” strength. Overall, Capitano is undoubtedly one of the most formidable Fatui Harbingers.

1. Pierro / The Jester: Strongest Fatui Harbinger

One of Childe’s voice lines implies that Pierro was formerly a Harbinger but has since ascended to the rank of Director within the Fatui Harbingers. Despite this promotion, he could still be considered one of the Harbingers. Pierro’s background is shrouded in mystery; he was purportedly a royal mage of Khaenri’ah and lived with the traveler’s sibling before the Cataclysm, as revealed by Scaramouche. His unique pupils, akin to those of Dainsleif and Kaeya, suggest he is a pure-blooded Khaenri’an.

The Cataclysm occurred 500 years ago, yet Pierro remains alive, indicating he, like Chlothar, is cursed with immortality. Apart from this, little is known about Pierro. However, as the Director and one of the oldest Fatui Harbingers, he is expected to be one of the most formidable figures within the Fatui, second only to the Tsaritsa.

Fatui Harbingers Ranked: My Take

As mentioned previously, while Childe suggests that Harbingers are ranked based on strength, numerous ambiguities and events have unfolded since the story’s inception, casting doubt on the validity of that statement. However, the rankings provided above are considered close to accurate based on the game’s lore.

If you believe that a particular Fatui Harbinger should rank higher than others, please share your reasoning in the comments section below.
