1. Defeat General Radahn to Access the Undergrounds
The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC unfolds intricately with Miquella’s story at its core. To unlock this expansion, your journey must lead you to the Moghwyn Dynasty Mausoleum, one of Elden Ring’s four underground regions accessible as you progress through the game. Achieving this requires defeating the formidable boss Radahn.
Radahn resides within Redmane Castle in Caelid, an encounter that must be undertaken after your initial visit to Altus Plateau. Following your arrival at Altus Plateau, travel to Redmane Castle to partake in the Festival of Radahn. Engage in a climactic battle against Radahn to earn entry into the underground area. 2. Reach the Moghwyn Palace
After defeating Radahn and unlocking the underground path, the next step is to reach Moghwyn Palace. To do this, complete Varre’s questline. You’ll find Varre initially at the First Step Site of Grace. After defeating Godrick the Grafted and visiting Enia at the Roundtable Hold, Varre will move to the Rose Church in Liurnia.
Here, Varre gives you two tasks: invade other players three times and obtain the blood of a slain maiden. Once both are complete, Varre rewards you with the Pureblood Knight’s Medal, which grants access to Moghwyn Palace, where you’ll face Mohg, Lord of Blood.
3. Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood
Once inside Moghwyn Palace, head southwest from your starting point to the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance Site of Grace. Follow the path to an open area with Albinaurics, ignore them, and activate the lift to reach Mohg’s chamber. Mohg relies on fire and blood-based attacks, so equip the Flask of Wondrous Physick and a blood damage-negation talisman to counteract blood build-up. With practice, you’ll soon master the strategy to defeat him.
4. Interact with Miquella’s Cocoon
The final step is almost here! Once you’ve defeated Mohg, reset the area, and a figure named Leda will appear, guiding you to Miquella’s Cocoon. Interact with the cocoon to be transported to the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree room.
