Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is now out, and, like the base game, it introduces a host of new bosses. This latest DLC features over 40 unique bosses, offering an unprecedented amount of content! However, many of these bosses are concealed within the intricate layers of the map, making them challenging to locate. If you’re just starting your journey, read on for a comprehensive list of all the bosses in the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC you need to know about!
All Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Main Bosses
In Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, there are 7 main campaign bosses. You must defeat all seven to complete the DLC’s main story. The following list is arranged in the order you encounter them in the game:
1. Divine Beast Dancing Lion
The first boss most players encounter in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is Divine Beast Dancing Lion. Found in the Belurat, Tower of Settlement, this boss serves as a significant skill check for new DLC players. His aggressive moveset demands constant alertness and quick thinking, providing ideal practice for the challenges ahead with other bosses in the game.
While initially daunting, Divine Beast Dancing Lion is considered one of the easier bosses in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
2. Rellana, Twin Moon Knight
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight stands out as one of the standout boss fights in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, offering a compelling mix of challenging gameplay and cinematic brilliance. Her encounter draws parallels to Pontiff Sulyvahn from Dark Souls 3, yet enhances and intensifies the experience in many ways.
In Elden Ring, the base game lacked a substantial representation of a Carian Knight boss, with Loretta being the sole example. Therefore, it’s refreshing to see the DLC effectively explore and expand upon the Carian Knight lore.
3. Golden Hippopotamus
The Golden Hippopotamus stands out as one of the most challenging boss fights in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, primarily due to the cramped boss room and challenging camera angles. Serving as the gatekeeper of the Shadow Keep, defeating this boss is crucial to advancing the main story. The Golden Hippopotamus attacks aggressively, and the confined space intensifies the struggle, particularly in its second phase.
4. Messmer the Impaler/Base Serpent Messmer
Messmer the Impaler, also known as Base Serpent Messmer in phase 2, stands out as the most well-designed boss fight in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Messmer presents a formidable challenge while maintaining fairness throughout the encounter. The spectacle of this boss fight is undeniable.
While Messmer may be easier to defeat compared to some other bosses, the encounter remains highly memorable and ranks among the best-designed boss fights in the Soulsborne franchise.
5. Romina, Saint of the Bud
Romina, Saint of the Bud, serves as the guardian boss of the Sealing Tree, and defeating her is essential to burn the Sealing Tree using Messmer’s Kindling. Romina employs Scarlet Rot attacks, though not to the extent seen with Malenia from the base game. Her move set is predictable, and she is susceptible to sustained damage, contributing to her reputation as one of the easier boss fights in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
6. Miquella’s Followers
Prior to facing the final bosses in Enir-Ilim, players must confront all the followers of Miquella in a sprawling battle royale-style setting. This boss encounter proves highly challenging due to the sheer number of opponents, yet it is executed with impressive craftsmanship.
The Followers of Miquella boss fight may not feature flashy, grandiose attacks, but its human-scale intensity lends it a memorable quality within the DLC.
7. Promised Consort Radahn/Radahn, Consort of Miquella
Promised Consort Radahn embodies everything you expect from a FromSoftware final boss. He stands as the most formidable challenge in the game by a significant margin, pushing players to the brink of despair. As a fan of the Radahn boss fight in the base game, it was immensely satisfying to face him at his full strength, especially after earlier encounters where he could be easily overcome with overpowered builds.
Promised Consort Radahn is not only the most challenging boss in the Elden Ring DLC but also earns the distinction of being a fitting final boss in the Soulsborne franchise.
