In addition to its captivating lore and challenging bosses, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree introduced new Ashes of War. Among them is Carian Sovereignty, a valuable skill that greatly enhances weapons. You’ll encounter this Ash of War shortly after defeating Rellana at Castle Ensis, making it a familiar option. If you’re eager to acquire this new skill, read on as we guide you through obtaining Carian Sovereignty in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree!
Carian Sovereignty Location in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
To obtain Carian Sovereignty in Elden Ring, you need to reach the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. This area is located just beyond Bonnie Village, after crossing through the town and entering a jungle. Follow the road through the jungle until you reach the cathedral situated by a lake. Make sure you’ve activated the nearby Site of Grace.
From the hill where the cathedral stands, descend and summon your horse. Ride north through the water and continue descending from the mountain. As you progress, you’ll encounter soldiers; bypass them and head south through a rocky area. Look out for roaming wolves along the road as confirmation that you’re on the right path.
Continue riding south until you reach the end of the hilly path. On your left, you’ll find a cave with a Beetle hanging from the ceiling. Use a weapon that can reach the ceiling to defeat the Beetle and obtain the Carian Sovereignty in the Elden Ring: Erdtree DLC.
Elden Ring Carian Sovereignty Properties
Carian Sovereignty is an Ash of War that can be applied to most weapons in Elden Ring, excluding colossal weapons. To imbue a weapon with Carian Sovereignty, visit Hewg who can enchant it, granting magical properties.
In essence, Carian Sovereignty allows Elden Ring players to transform their equipped blade into a powerful magical greatsword. Pressing the Ash of War button executes a forceful downward strike.
Holding down the Ash of War button charges the blade, increasing its size and delivering a more impactful slam upon release. In both instances, immediately after the blade hits the ground, pressing the Ash of War button triggers a follow-up magic blade slash.
Each use of Carian Sovereignty consumes 30 FP (Focus Points), as it is a magic-based Ash of War linked to Carian skills. Remember Rellana, the Twin Moon Knight boss at Castle Ensis? She utilizes a similar magic against players during the boss fight. While players do not replicate Rellana’s spinning blade move, they can perform a similar moveset.
And that’s how you acquire Carian Sovereignty in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. The presence of this magic on a random Beetle instead of at Castle Ensis itself raises intriguing lore questions.
