This Spell Makes the Worst Area in Black Myth Wukong

Black Myth Wukong features a variety of beautifully designed levels, each with its own unique charm, except for one. The Pagoda Realm is an area that makes my blood boil just thinking about it. Without a doubt, it’s the worst area in Black Myth Wukong, and there are plenty of reasons why. This part of Chapter 3 initially captivates you with its stunning snowy landscape, only to plunge you into what feels like a living nightmare. The Pagoda Realm is a prison designed to keep divine beings and Yaoguais from escaping, and it does a good job of that. But why does this area stand out as such a stark contrast to the rest of the game? Let me explain.

Pagoda Realm: The Worst Area in Black Myth Wukong

For starters, Pagoda Realm introduces one of the most dreaded mechanics in Soul’s-like games- Fall Damage. While earlier chapters of Black Myth Wukong largely spared players from this frustration by using invisible walls to block hazardous falls, Pagoda Realm shatters that illusion. This area brutally punishes missteps, creating a stark contrast to the previously forgiving gameplay.

Pagoda Realm’s design features a series of narrow beam-like platforms that make falling off a constant risk with just one wrong move. Adding to the challenge are strategically placed enemies, reminiscent of the frustrating design found in Dark Souls II, which make navigating these precarious bridges a test of patience.

The challenges in Pagoda Realm don’t end there. The area also features a life-drain mechanic that periodically reduces your health to just 30-40% of its maximum. This low HP is quickly depleted by just one or two hits from the area’s random mobs.

Combine that with some of the most frustrating bosses in the game, and you have the perfect recipe for the worst area in Black Myth Wukong. The two bosses you encounter here—Captain Lotus-Vision and Captain Wise-Voice—each possess multiple one-hit kill attacks, making the battles even more challenging.

How to Survive in the Pagoda Realm in Black Myth Wukong

After struggling for nearly two hours to navigate this area, I discovered a solution that nearly trivializes the challenges the Cloud Step spell.

It was surprisingly simple yet took me a while to figure out. The Cloud Step spell makes your character invisible for a short time, allowing you to navigate the area without being hindered by enemies that would otherwise knock you to your death.

This spell is also invaluable against the two bosses in the Pagoda Realm, giving you a moment to regroup and strategize during intense fights. For those who prefer the Rock-Solid spell for parrying, it might be worth reallocating your Skill points to Cloud Step to make traversing and conquering this challenging area much easier.

So, that’s how I managed to navigate the Pagoda Realm. Share your thoughts on this challenging area and how you approached overcoming it. Feel free to share any tips and tricks you’ve discovered that might help others tackle this difficult part of Black Myth Wukong.
