Apple Vision Pro is currently exclusive to the United States, with no availability elsewhere. However, Apple has announced plans to expand the availability of its mixed-reality headset to more countries by the end of 2024. Although specific regions and timing have not been disclosed, insights from the visionOS code suggest an international expansion.
Recent discoveries by MacRumors indicate that Apple is preparing to introduce 12 new languages to the virtual keyboard of Vision Pro. Currently, the headset only supports English (US) due to its limited availability. To cater to a broader audience, the expansion to new countries would necessitate support for additional languages. Apple appears to be aligning with this requirement by expanding visionOS to include support for more languages.
As per findings by MacRumors, the visionOS code suggests upcoming support for the following languages in the virtual keyboard and autocorrect functionalities:
- Cantonese, Traditional
- Chinese, Simplified
- English (Australia)
- English (Canada)
- English (Japan)
- English (Singapore)
- English (UK)
- French (Canada)
- French (France)
- German (Germany)
- Japanese
- Korean
This development provides a strong indication of the countries where Apple is likely to launch the Vision Pro next. The list includes China, Germany, Australia, France, Canada, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and the UK. Additionally, Taiwan and Hong Kong are potential candidates for the expansion.
It’s important to note that Apple’s potential launch of the Vision Pro in these regions may not happen simultaneously.
Earlier this year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted that Apple initially launched the Vision Pro exclusively in the US due to limited initial supply. The company aimed to ensure a smooth launch and sales process in the US, given that the headset requires customers to find their ideal fit and prescription lenses. However, Kuo also mentioned that Apple intends to sell the Vision Pro in more countries before WWDC 2024, when it’s expected to introduce visionOS 2.
