Xiaomi Unveils SU7 EV Series Featuring HyperOS and Up to 800Km Range

Today, Xiaomi made its highly anticipated debut in the electric vehicle market with the unveiling of its inaugural electric SUV line, the Xiaomi SU7. This electric sedan not only signifies Xiaomi’s venture into the EV industry but also showcases its innovative connected technology, HyperMind, through its proprietary in-home operating system, HyperOS. Here’s an in-depth look at the Xiaomi SU7 EV series:

Features of Xiaomi SU7 and SU7 Max

The Xiaomi SU7 offers two variants: the standard and the Max. The Max variant, as expected, stands as the premium model, boasting nearly double the horsepower and torque, along with approximately 30% more range on a single charge.

The standard Xiaomi SU7 SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds, boasting a claimed range of 668 km. It generates 299 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, reaching a maximum speed of 210 km/h. This specific model functions as a rear-wheel-drive unit.

The Xiaomi SU7 Max variant delivers an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 2.78 seconds, accompanied by a claimed range of 800 km. It achieves a remarkable output of 673 horsepower and a maximum torque of 848 Nm, reaching a top speed of 265 km/h.

The standout feature of the unveiling was Xiaomi’s emphasis on connected technology through HyperOS and various intelligent functionalities. Aligning with our predictions in the HyperOS article, Xiaomi has heavily invested in HyperOS and ecosystem integration. In line with this, the vehicle showcases a connected chipset from NVIDIA capable of executing 508 trillion Tera operations per second, powering Xiaomi Pilot – the brand’s Autonomous Driving algorithm.

Xiaomi proudly asserts rigorous testing of its autonomous driving technology, spanning over 10 million kilometers. This innovation harnesses the vehicle’s onboard cameras in what Xiaomi terms as ‘Adaptive BEV(Adaptive Bird Eye View). This adaptive feature dynamically adjusts camera distances to enhance pedestrian and traffic assessment in varying environments.

The car’s interior stands out as a focal point, prominently featuring a 16.1-inch main display unit equipped with a 3K display, powered by Snapdragon 8295. This centerpiece is packed with a plethora of connected tech features, amplifying the overall driving experience.

Amidst its array of features, Xiaomi emphasizes substantial investment in battery safety measures, ensuring the vehicles are inherently safe to operate. Employing Aerogel for insulation and fortifying the battery with reinforcement metals, they’ve safeguarded it from all sides, providing 7.8 square meters of additional insulation on each side.
