Redmi Note 13 Series Debuts in India: Explore the Details

The Note series from Xiaomi stands as a frontrunner in the mid-range smartphone market in India. With the recent launch of the Redmi Note 12 series, the company achieved an impressive milestone, selling Rs 3 billion worth of phones within a few weeks post-launch. Now, the eagerly awaited Redmi Note 13 series has arrived, comprising the Redmi Note 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro+. Here’s a comprehensive overview of all three variants in the Note 13 lineup.

Display

The Redmi Note 13 boasts a Full-HD+ AMOLED panel with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate, while the Note 13 Pro and 13 Pro+ step up with Dolby Vision-certified 1.5K AMOLED panels, also offering a 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of brightness, the Redmi Note 13 hits a peak of 1,000 nits, while the Note 13 Pro and 13 Pro+ soar to 1,800 nits.

When it comes to protection, there’s a variance between the models. The standard Note 13 relies on Gorilla Glass 5, a well-known but slightly older standard for device protection. On the other hand, both the Note 13 Pro and 13 Pro+ employ Gorilla Glass Victus, a more advanced and robust protection technology.

Performance

The Redmi Note 13 is powered by the Dimensity 6080 chipset, while the Note 13 Pro utilizes the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, and the Note 13 Pro+ houses the MediaTek 7200 Ultra. To gauge their performance, the Dimensity 6080 falls approximately 40% behind the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 used in the Note 13 Pro.

On the other hand, the Dimensity 7200 Ultra in the Note 13 Pro+ demonstrates a slightly superior performance to the 7s Gen 2, showcasing an estimated 10-15% improvement on paper.

There’s uncertainty regarding whether the 256GB and higher variants of both the Redmi Note 13 and Note 13 Pro utilize UFS 3.1, as their 128GB versions suggest UFS 2.1 storage. However, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is confirmed to employ UFS 3.1 storage.

It’s worth noting that all three Redmi Note 13 models come equipped with Android 13-based MIUI 14 out of the box, foregoing the new HyperOS experience. This could be considered disappointing in 2024, particularly since Android 14 has been available for over four months. Although, it’s been announced that the first two Xiaomi devices to receive HyperOS in India have been identified.

Cameras

The Redmi Note 13 is equipped with a 108 MP primary sensor, utilizing the popular ISOCELL HM2 sensor that produces 12 MP shots through image binning, along with a 2 MP depth sensor.

In contrast, the Note 13 Pro and 13 Pro+ boast Samsung’s 200 MP HP3 sensor, which generates 12.5 MP images. Additionally, both models feature an 8 MP Ultrawide, a 2 MP macro sensor, and a 16 MP selfie camera.

Samsung claims that the ISOCELL HP3 sensor excels in focusing, color accuracy, and overall picture quality. While not delving further into specifics, it’s reasonable to assume that photos taken with the 13 Pro and 13 Pro+ might showcase superior image quality compared to those from the Note 13.

Battery, Audio and Fingerprint Sensor

The Redmi Note 13 is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery supporting 33W fast charging. In contrast, the Note 13 Pro features a slightly larger 5,100 mAh battery and offers faster 67W wired charging. On the other hand, the Note 13 Pro+ boasts a 5,000 mAh battery with a remarkable 120W fast charging capability.

In terms of security features, the Note 13 employs a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, while both the Note 13 Pro and 13 Pro Plus utilize under-display fingerprint sensors. Notably, the standard Note lacks stereo speakers, whereas the 13 Pro+ does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, the Redmi Note 13 Pro incorporates both features.
