CES 2024: ASUS ZenBook Duo Takes a Bold Leap with Dual 16:10 Displays

Asus has revealed a new iteration of the ZenBook Duo laptop at CES 2024, showcasing a design evolution that takes a bold departure from the conventional form factor. This latest laptop design pushes the boundaries and may be perceived as unconventional by many. Personally, I must admit that the ZenBook Duo has captured my attention and stands out as one of the most distinctive laptop launches of 2025.

For those unfamiliar, the Asus ZenBook Duo originally featured a mini display positioned above the keyboard deck. This innovative use of space enhanced multitasking capabilities for users. The newly unveiled Asus ZenBook Duo (2024) at CES takes this concept a few steps further, promising an even more advanced and unique user experience.

Revolutionary Design Evolution in the 2024 Asus Zenbook Duo

Rather than opting for a traditional redesign of the previous model, Asus has drawn inspiration from Lenovo’s Dual Screen laptop design, a concept we have encountered previously. The new ZenBook Duo features two distinct displays, departing from the single integrated screen of its predecessor.

The Ergosense keyboard and touchpad are physically detached from the laptop, providing users with a wireless experience as they operate via Bluetooth rather than a conventional wired, internal connection.

Additionally, there is an “optionally bundled” sleeve that allows users to prop up the display. One showcased mode by Asus presents the ZenBook Duo (2024) in a portrait orientation, featuring two side-by-side screens arranged in a 10:16 aspect ratio, resembling a book. This design showcases remarkable versatility, unlocking impressive multitasking capabilities.

In an alternative mode, both 14-inch displays can be stacked vertically at a 16:10 ratio, creating a dual monitor setup. Given its touchscreen functionality, the new ZenBook Duo (2024) can be utilized as a tablet. The second screen can also serve as a virtual touchpad and keyboard, facilitated by the onboard software.

ZenBook Duo 2024: Intel Core Ultra Processors and OLED Displays

The ZenBook Duo comes equipped with dual 14-inch OLED Panels featuring a 3K resolution of 2880×1800 pixels and an impressive 120Hz refresh rate. Asus has designed the laptop with slim bezels, boasting a remarkable 91% screen-to-body ratio.

The displays offer a slightly more expansive aspect ratio, standing at 16:10 instead of the typical 16:9. Asus refers to these displays as Lumina OLED, emphasizing their premium OLED quality. Furthermore, the ZenBook Duo 2024 undergoes Pantone validation, ensuring its suitability for professional content creation scenarios.

The ZenBook Duo (2024) laptop’s OLED displays boast comprehensive features, including 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage, support for 1.07 billion colors, and certification for DisplayHDR True Black 500. Notably, the display is stylus-compatible. Asus will also offer variants with a 1080p 60Hz (1920×1080) display.

The ZenBook Duo (2024) features the latest processor and graphics technology. It will debut with the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, equipped with 16 cores, 22 threads, and a boost clock speed of 5.10 GHz.

Intel’s NPU is incorporated into the new Asus ZenBook Duo (2024) for on-device AI acceleration. The laptop features Intel Arc graphics, providing a performance boost for graphics-intensive tasks and including hardware-based ray tracing support. Notably, the laptop holds Intel Evo certification.

In terms of memory, the ZenBook Duo utilizes LPDDR5 with a capacity of up to 32GB, boasting an impressive memory speed of 7467MHz. Storage options extend to 2TB of NVMe Gen4. The laptop comes with Wi-Fi 6E technology. With a 75WHrs battery, the laptop remains reasonably portable at 1.65kg, considering the substantial hardware it houses.

The laptop is equipped with an FHD camera that also supports Windows Hello for quick PC login. In terms of ports, it features 2x Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C ports with power delivery support, along with 1x HDMI 2.1, 1x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, and a 3.5mm headset port.

Overall, the laptop is impressive with minimal compromises. However, the design, which separates the keyboard and mouse, utilizing the entire space of the actual laptop for its dual displays, may not be universally appreciated. The previous-generation ZenBook Duo offered a more consolidated design, integrating everything into a single package.

In terms of pricing, the entry-level variant is set at $1499 and features a Core Ultra 5 125H processor, paired with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 1080p displays.
