Lotus, often a choice of pro teams, hasn’t been as popular within the Valorant community due to its perceived bias toward attackers in most rounds. However, Riot Games, in their efforts for Valorant Episode 8 Act 1, seems poised to address this issue. Substantial changes to the Lotus map are anticipated to create a more balanced experience for both attacking and defending sides. Let’s delve into the extensive modifications slated for Lotus upon the release of Episode 8 Act 1 in Valorant.
Release Date for Lotus Map Changes in Valorant
Scheduled to be implemented alongside Episode 8, Act 1 on January 9, 2024, these modifications will also introduce Icebox into the competitive map rotation pool.
The forthcoming Lotus map update signifies a substantial overhaul, encompassing extensive alterations across the A Site, B Site, and C Site simultaneously. Let’s delve directly into the details and explore these changes.
Valorant Lotus Map: A Site Changes
1. A Site
The recent changes to the A site have completely transformed its layout, making it less open than before. The default mid-section pillar has undergone a significant alteration, now lacking a division while establishing a choke point on its rear side. Furthermore, this pillar has been heightened, posing a challenge for line-up merchants to navigate.
2. A Main
The connection from A main to B link has notably expanded compared to the previous Lotus map layout. For defenders favoring early aggression, the cubby area has been enlarged and includes two boxes that offer essential cover. On the right-hand side, you’ll find a breakable door, while the left corner provides a hiding spot, be prepared to encounter more campers around this area outside the door.
Valorant Lotus Map: B Site Changes
1. B Link
The B link has undergone expansion, notably creating additional room on the left side of the breakable door. This expanded area provides an advantageous space for sentinel agents to deploy their traps and trackers, particularly aiding in rotations. Defenders can leverage this corner effectively to intercept A to B rotations, catching unsuspecting players off-guard.
2. B Site
While the community held the opinion that the B bomb plant site on Lotus didn’t require adjustments, Riot appears to have a differing perspective. The spot for planting the Valorant spike remains unchanged; however, the C side wall has been extended, resulting in increased space within the site. This extension has introduced a cubby and corner, enhancing opportunities for post-plant defensive strategies, an exciting prospect I’m eager to explore.
Valorant Lotus Map: C Site Changes
1. C Site
The adjustments to the C site in Lotus aim to favor attackers more than before. Previously, pushing the C site proved challenging, presenting a hurdle for players. However, this change offers an opportunity for strategic adaptation. The planting spot has shifted, reducing its proximity to the defender side while expanding towards the staircase on the rear end of the site. Additionally, the stairs themselves are now more spacious compared to the previous layout of the C site.
2. C Main
Lotus is also undergoing a significant and highly necessary change by extending C main to the right. This expansion offers a larger C main section, granting defenders additional space for early strategic moves. Closer to the site, the layout has replaced the small box with two larger boxes, offering substantial cover for those holding the stairs.
