New Gameplay Trailer Highlights Cinematic Mission

Sledgehammer offered a preview of Modern Warfare 3 with a mission called “Operation 627,” set in the Kostovian Sea around October 13, 2023. This mission, according to Sledgehammer, marks one of the initial encounters in the game. The trailer opens with Task Force 141 preparing and embarking on an underwater journey for a stealthy assault in enemy territory. As the soldiers progress, the trailer showcases the enhanced graphical quality that Call of Duty is renowned for. Additionally, viewers are treated to a glimpse of new gadgets, including a line launcher.

Operation 627 appears to be a notable Open Combat Mission, focusing on stealth-oriented equipment such as night vision goggles and suppressed weapons. Open combat missions allow players to choose their preferred approach for specific tasks, adding an element of strategy to the gameplay.

While the trailer starts with a tranquil atmosphere, the second half rapidly transitions into intense action as Force 141 engages in a firefight. The gunplay, while not drastically different, features improved reticle stability, enhanced volumetric effects, and sound effects.

Towards the end of the trailer, the squad covertly enters what appears to be an underground prison, using a blackout as cover, with the intention of potentially rescuing a prisoner.
