With the multitude of messages flooding in daily on WhatsApp from various sources like close contacts, friends, colleagues, and groups, not to mention spam from businesses, it’s easy for your chat window to become cluttered. This makes finding specific messages a challenge. It appears that WhatsApp has recognized this problem and is addressing it by introducing chat filters within the app.
According to WhatsApp’s recent blog post, chat filters are set to roll out to your phone soon. Positioned at the top of the chat window, likely below the search bar, they will enable easy message sorting. These filters will be categorized into three distinct groups.
Here are the three categories of filters that will be available:
All: This displays all your chats and messages.
Unread: Lists messages that you haven’t opened or read yet.
Groups: Shows all the groups you’re part of in one convenient location, allowing you to catch up on any conversations you may have missed.
The introduction of filters in WhatsApp is a long-awaited feature that users have been requesting for years, and it’s fantastic to see it finally coming to the app. As per the blog, the rollout of this feature will commence today and is expected to reach your devices in the coming weeks. Be sure to keep your WhatsApp updated to access this feature as soon as possible.
Having filters will make it easier to organize and manage your chats, especially for those, like me, who find it difficult to navigate through older messages. This is a step in the right direction, but I would prefer if WhatsApp added an option to create folders, similar to Telegram. This would further enhance organization, allowing users to sort chats based on their preferences.
What are your thoughts on this upcoming feature? Have you received chat filters yet? Share your experiences in the comments.
